Hi all.
:)

Just tinkering with NL2-HDD and a Gigabyte E350N board.

NL2 boots fine from the CD, but then comes up with that message - odd, as it must have mounted the CD, to be able to boot from it surely?

I get:

[ DONE ] - Filesystem configuration complete
[ FAIL ] - Unable to mount CD-ROM

Then the system shuts itself down - any ideas?

PAUSE pressed during boot to reveal RELEASE: 10-2007
Perhaps this is just a case of an old version not wanting to work?

BIOS set to AHCI, and BIOS sees both the CD-ROM and the HDD, which is a 2.5TB

EDIT: OK, I set the BIOS back to native IDE, in case the AHCI was stuffing with the ability of the setup to mount the CD, but still no joy.

Is this version too old do you think?

Hunting around the forums, I found this thread with the same issue:

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2267

Seems that older versions of NL2 don't like the taste of SATA CD/DVD drives.
I am assuming that the newer versions will not have such an issue.

The time has come for me to buy a new up to date copy of NL2.
The one I am playing with is "RELEASE: 10-2007", purchased in 2008.

Me thinks a newer copy may fix all my problems.
Perhaps not, but never pays to play around with an old version on modern hardware for too long. :P
...it is cheap enough to make the attempt anyway.

I will get the x64 version, as the board I am using is dual-core.
I will install to USB, and see how we get on.
