So i've built a new naslite server and i want to pull out the old drives from the existing server and stick them in the new box .

I just tried it with one drive, but in storage options the only option was format the disk.

Surely they are formated the same? Can't i just chuck them straight in?
Do i have to copy all the data cross to a new drive?

The old server is on V2.64
The new one V2.67

any ideas? I've about 6Tb of data on 5 drives...

thanks
paul

long time since i did it - they will move so do nothing until someone has the answer - i take it you have activated the new install - not much help sorry - apart from knowing they will move across

Hi Paul.

Yep, the only thing you should do is to unplug the drive from the old one & plug it in the new one.

Are you sure that NL is not offering to format the "excess" space on the installation drive (boot partition used by NL and the remaining space for user usage to be formatted) ? Look at the specifications of the drives NL wants to format and see if it is your old drive.

Do not format anything with you old drives in the box (to be sure that you don't dump any data by mistake)
