Hi Steeve

I've been using Second Copy for my office for years with very good results. Works great as scheduled or automatic start when you plug the external "copy-to" disk. Plenty of options... The only perfectible part is that it doesn't do copies of the "only modified part" of the files but copies all the modified files.

cheers for that rob

we have purchased acronis true image 2013

first impressions very good and you can back up to remote devices, cloud etc lots of options

it allows incremental and full back ups

we do incremental backups every night and full backups on a saturday as it takes about 16 hours

Time will tell though, not had to restore anything yet

I use with my clients "KLS Backup". Easy to use and can do FULL/DIFFERENTIAL/INCREMENTAL/SYNC.

No backup software is validated till you do a real restore ;) Do a test restore when you are calm and have not lost anything ;)

Not a true backup - but have you tried the built in rsync? Pretty solid and useful.

And if you really need "versioning"...perhaps a drive cage would serve as the enabler?

I've tried lots of "backup" software. Haven't found much to like. Stanford advocates a simpler LOCKSS "Lots of copies keep stuff safe" strategy.

For many - just having the file will be the ultimate desired outcome. Won't help you rebuild a system...but that's difficult for any backup strategy. Why so many really don't work.....
