I have quite a few 8Gb and 16GB SD cards, And I was wondering can I connect these to my NAS server. I am running NASLite 2 x64.
I would try and give it a go but my card reader died, and the other one I have (which is very old think windows 98) doesn't work with the newer HC cards, and my Linux XBMC machine won't even see it. And its Sunday so no palces open to buy a cheap card reader from.
If it does work, do I need to do anything first with the cards or is it just plug and play rather than plug and pray.

Interesting request. Never tried that. But if NL does see the USB connected card as if it's an external storage drive (like Windows PC would) it will need to reformat (deleting any/all data on it) with a Linux ext3 file system.

Let us know if it works ... :)

Well though I can understand your desire there is really not much to be gained. There are no cards out there, at least not that I could find, that have multiple SD interfaces on them. I wish there were, it would make one hell of a RAID card. Just about any SD to USB adapter should work but allot depends on the BIOS as well. Give it a go and see what you end up with for results.
