The system is booting from a compact flash attached to ide 0, and has only a 250 gb hdd on a sata pci card.
The problem is this:
Setting normal administration mode......... [DONE]
cat: can't open '/var/nicstate': No such file or directory
sed: /var/psbuffer: No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove '/var/psbuffer': No such file or directory
/etc/ServerElements/bin/NL20B: line 470: syntax error: 100--13

FileServer1 login:_

so... It appears as though something has gone wrong.
Can anyone offer some simultaneous advice to me?

long time since i set one up but i think the problem is the settings for the ide line you have the compact flash on

you say you have a sata drive - i assume you dont have a cd on ide 0 - just have the compact flash - go into the ide settings on bios on ide 0 and look at what you can change - struggling to remember whats available but there are speed settings - alter those

First off you provide no information about the hardware you are trying to get this to load on, it might help.

I first would try removing the SATA card and booting from the CF card only. Not all CF cards are alike, some don't want to boot and have issues.

Also try resetting the BIOS to factory defaults and disable the interfaces you don't use like the serial and the parallel ports as well as any excess USB, and sound ports.

My first thought is that you may have RAM problems. As pointed above, I'd reset the BIOS to defaults, then run memtest to verify RAM integrity.
