Tony,

Thank you for your assistance.

I performed the sequence exactly as you stated, except before i selected 7 to reboot, i selected 9 to save the configuration (hope that did not screw anything up) then selected 7 to reboot.

Here is what happened.

Disk - 0

After the initial Boot the only option available when i selected Disk - 0 was number 4Run Disk 0 Extended SMART Self Test.

No options were selected for Export Disk

The Status of Disk - 0 was/is Not Mounted - Boot/Config Device

Disk - 1

When i selected Disk - 1 apart from option 9 all other options were available, and Export Disk -1 was set to RW.

I proceeded to select 8 Format Disk - 1

After this completed the Export Disk - 1 was still set to RW and the options were as before the Format function

Disk - 1 Status Not Mounted

I returned to the main menu Selected 9 to save the configuration, then 7 to Reboot

After Reboot the Disk - 0 and Disk - 1 status was as explained above

Hope this helps

John

Tony,

OK... Progress..

I read somewhere that during this investigation process i did not nee to enter in the license number and unlock codes etc..so i haven't been..... but now i have and .

Disk 1 is now mounted and available for NAS, however i am still puzzled why i cannot use the addition storage space on Disk - 0.

When i access the netwrok form my Mac systems i can see two folders, naslie - 2 and Naslite 2 AFP, i can only use the AFP folder is that normal for a Mac OSX network?

Thx

John

1st point John - you seemed to have solved part of it - was just coming to say you are missing something - i followed your list and got what you got - the key is the license number and unlock code

after you first enter name and password - admin - nas - you want to

1 - enter the license code
2 - change the ip address to your preferred one
3 - save config
4 - reboot
5 - enter unlock code
6 - save config
7 - reboot

then format drive and set to RW

as to not seeing the partition on the 1st drive - you should - for ease i would remove all drives - boot from cd to option i and deconfigure the install - reboot and again boot from cd to option i and install option 2 - then go through the entering license etc - you should then be able to format drive 0 - thats not the boot partition thats protected

once you have formatted that add any more drives - you should see them as unmounted and be able to format and add them
