Hi

I have a spare USB hard drive and I want to connect it to my NL server and have Mirrors done daily towards this drive. Actually, the drive is in NTFS format. Do I have to change it to FAT32 or Ext3/4 to be able to use it as a "mirror" recipient ?

I'd prefer keeping it in a Windows format as the data is used by Windows software and in case of a server problem, I can use the USB drive on any of my other Windows computers.

i 'think' ? for naslite to see it it will have to be mounted by the system so it will have to be ext3 - only way i see to do what you want is a manual backup with the usb drive connected to a windows system

if you did back it up via naslite then there are addons to windows to read ext3 files

Hi Tony

I confirm, when I plugged the NTFS USB drive and rebooted, the only thing than NL offered was formating the drive.

I'll install EXT3 drivers on the XP Pro machines so that if I need to use the backup drive, everything will be ready.

plug usb drive into windows box.

use one of the windows software solutions to backup naslite drive to usb drive, or just create a batch file to copy naslite disk to usb disk

Or even use something like Allway sync to keep it updated.

Yes, that was what I've been doing for some years now but I wanted to quicken the backup time every night ;) I back up on 3 different medias and one less shortens by 1/3 the time ;)
