Since updating from snow leopard to Lion I am unable to log into my NAS server via AFP, SMB or NFS. I can log in via ftp using goto server using the ip address but it is read only. As previuosly posted on the web: "OS X Lion does not support logging into NAS boxes running Samba or AFP servers that employ the DHCAST128 authentication method. Apple documented this as a security update, in which they outright disabled DHCAST128 in Lion. People who are running type of NAS system – FreeNAS or store bought boxes will not work in Lion!
I've seen workarounds using terminal to re-enable DHCAST128 but that's if you're logging in using a password. Is there a future update to fix this issue?

Thanks

Is your post directed to NASLite or FreeNAS? I'm kinda not clear here.

OS X 10.7 does not, and has never had a problem connecting to NASLite-2 or M2.

Thanks.

Thank you for responding. I was giving and example of what was being said regarding Lion's issues with NAS. I am currently using NASLite -2 CCD which was working fine with the latest version of Snow Leopard. With Lion I get the dialog box:

I can see my server in the sidebar:

Of course I am running an older version of NASLite-2 CDD, v2.06 08-2007. Would this be the issue?

Thats probably the issue. I use the latest M2 with 10.7 no problem on my iMac and my Macbook Pro.

Sounds good. I'll purchase an upgrade for my installation. One last question. When I upgrade from NASlite-2 2.06 to 2.60 will I loose any data thats currently on my disks (installing the CD-ROM version)?

Thanks again for your help.

Well, I updated my NASlite. It was a simple matter of downloading the update (from 2.06 to 2.65) iso; paying a small fee, and burning the image to a cd. The old cd was removed, the new updated cd inserted and the system rebooted. Bingo, Lion now sees my NAS and I'm able to just double click on the server in the sidebar to get to my contents. Great job guys!
Just a note everyone, remember to update your server software.....lol
