Hi,

Got me stumped, this one.

Two Win 7 64 bit PCs and a Naslite 2 box.

PC 1 can access the Naslites disks and access it via the web interface
PC 2 can acces the Naslite box via the web interface but not see any disks.

PC1 and PC 2 can see each other.

Anyone any ideas?

Rob

Have you mapped drives on the second PC?

Have you entered the unlock code?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

"Have you mapped drives on the second PC?" As I cannot 'see' the Naslite box I am unable to map. I get an error like "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection". I tried typing in the server name (with correct case) and still no go.

"Have you entered the unlock code?" The other Win 7 PC can access the Naslite box AND the unlock key is shown.

An update:

If I shutdown the PC that CAN access the Naslite box, the Naslite icon appears on the PC that cannot access it. However, I still can't open any of the folders on it.

I can ping, http and telnet into the Naslite box so there is definitely connectivity.

Is there something I have to set up permissions-wise?

Have tried turning of firewalls, but it doesn't make any difference.

Regards,

Rob

I have a Windows 7 machine (32Bit) that has no issues at all accessing the shares on the NL machine. I would be looking at the windows machines to be the problem. Check that your network settings are correct and in the same range. There are no permissions on NL to be set.

Hi Rob. Win 7 has issues with LAN, especially since SP1 installed. I have a Win 7 x64 SP1 laptop and I have to QUIT the session and reopen the session in order to connect to the NL server. If I hibernate the laptop or just put it to sleep mode, it will NOT connect to the NL server when it wakes up.

All the other XP Pro SP3 machines work great with the same server.

Try disconnection / reconnection on the Win7 machine to see what it gives.

Hi,

Still no joy - I have tried everything to get one of the Win 7 64 bit macines to connect - reboot, shutdown etc. etc.turn firewall on/off.

This could be a showstopper. Vitually all PCs being sold are Win 7 macines. If random ones can't do a simple connection then Naslite won't be much good to lots of people...

has to be a setting - i have 4 win 7 machines - all connect - all sp1 - ultimate - pro and and a home premium - a couple of laptops pass through with win 7 - checked both this weekend and both connected to network and saw naslite drives

not sure on the mix of 32 and 64 bit - at least 2 are 64bit - what version of 7 are you using on each machine - cannot see that mattering but who knows - could it be something in the router - are they both via cable or wireless - again cannot see why that would matter but again - who knows

How are you mapping the drives from the offending PC?

Is the workgroup the same between the PC and the NASLite server?

My Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium PC has connected flawlessly to NASLite since I corrected the relevant security settings (on installation day in late 2009). It will prompt with a "Network drives cannot be found" message most times it boots as my server is off most of the time. If I power up the server when the PC is already on it will be able to access the drives as soon as NASLite has finished booting up.

+1 for this being a Windows 7 settings issue, not a NASLite issue.

Hi,

Read a few articles on the net re NetBIOS and how it should enabled for various reasons that I can't remember now.

Anyway, I had a look through the Services running and noticed that the NetBIOSHelper was disabled. I enabled it, rebooted and everything worked.

Strange thing is, now that I've enabled it it doesn't appear on the list of services at all.

Hope this helps someone,

Regards, Rob

there you go - M$ strikes again - and sure you did not set it that way or alter anything when you installed 7 - just a mind of its own

Yeah - I've worked on a few Win 7 machines and never come across this.
