I'm new to NASLite-2, I just burned the ISO last night and booted from a USB CD. All looks good for a while but then I get "Detecting Configuration Device (unavailable) [FAIL]" and the system shuts down. I've tried going into the BIOS and selecting "failsafe" options and have also done a cmos reset.

My system is a NORCO LIB520

Help Please...

Thanks
Ummak

Just a silly question: Did you install NL or did you just start it from the CD you burned?

If you did install, where did you install (HDD, USB key ?)

If you just booted from the CD without installation, you have to install it first.

Regards

I've tried booting from the CD and letting it go, that's when I get the error

I've tried hitting the "i" for install utility but when I get to the blue login screen that says "login as admin" my USB keyboard stops working!

I've also tried to run it from the CD by using the lower case L, but that also gives me the error.

I'm willing to try anything at this point

thanks

As I said, you CANNOT run it without an installation first.

See if an USB keyboard is accepted by your BIOS and if this setting is ON. Turn OFF all the unnecessary settings (LPT, COM, RAID etc) in BIOS.

Be careful as NL uses a US / QWERTY keyboard and if you are using another KB, your i could not be an i ;)

Try with a PS2 keyboard.

I would also be tempted to put a CF card into the CF device on that system and use that as the system disc and as Rob said try a PS2 Keyboard.

Also, turn USB 2.0 off in the bios, this will probably correct the missing keyboard after boot.

I've turned off all BIOS functions (com ports, lpt, ide, floppy). I've also set usb to run in 1.x mode

I'm still having the same problem

Here is what i'm doing:
1. Plug in a USB keyboard (computer does not have a ps2 plug)
2. Plug in a blank 4GB USB drive
3. Power ON the system
4. Boot from CD ROM
5. Get to the "boot:" prompt so press "i" and hit enter (note the usb keyboard is working!). It then takes me to the blue "Installation Utility CD-ROM" Screen. I get the following:
-----------------------
INITIALIZING

Starting environment configuration:

[DONE] - Filesystem configuration complete
[DONE] - CD-ROM mounted
[DONE]- Target device found.

Login as admin to enter installer.

(none) login:

-----------------------
At this point my usb keyboard stops working and so I can not proceed to the type "admin" to get to the next step.

What else can I do?

Turn on legacy USB support and USB keyboard in the BIOS.

Also try plugging in the keyboard after the boot or unplug and then plug it back in after it boots.

install Naslite to the usb stick via another systen - just do all you are doing but on a system that it will install on - once you have done that move the usb stick to the system you want it on and boot

hopefully it will then boot and allow access to the keyboard and you can setup the config
