Have been been running for quite sometime with a 250 gig mirror and today my main drive dies. I remove the main drive and thought it would just boot off the mirrored drive. I was mis-taken. It went into default mode and wanted to install on the(what it thought was a new drive as it could not find the config)I then loaded the mirrored drive in a external case an plugged into a linux build thinking I would be able to access it. NOPE..

So I am thinking if I just get a new 250 gig drive, place them both and as use the new drive as the mirror to I will be fine? Just wanting re-assurance so to speak prior to doing this.

Thanks for any input.

Um, i think you are making a whole lot of assumptions here and those can only get you in trouble. Put the mirror drive where it was, boot off of the CD and use a floppy to config. That should get you to your data. If you are using the external enclosure on a Linux box, then you'll need to mount the drive before you can get to it. It's all ext3 so any Linux will read it.
