Hi,
My setup is like this.
2.4.31.NASLite running on usb with a floppy kicker
Duron 1200mhz
128mb ram
6 X 250gb ide disk

im having trouble mounting disk-3. the other disks mount good.
The only option i have via telnet on this disk is format. the other options has a * infront of them so i cant check for errors.

Another strange problem is that i cant connect to the naslite via ftp og smb.
In my network places in both vista and xp, naslite does not show.
In smb i get the answer that i need a admin password, and in ftp i get a connection refused.
I can connect via web to se the status on system and all does looks just dandy exept for the disk-3 that is a no show.
Same thing in telnet.
But i do not understand why i cant connect via smb/ftp to see the other disks that is mounted ok.

In the syslog i get alot of bad things.
My guess is that Disk-3 is fubar.
Havent connected it to a screen, will do that tomorrow to see whats going on during the boot. have given up for today. any live cd i should try out?

Any help would be good help ;)

Don't go and do something drastic or stupid quite yet.

Re-seat the drive cable and if this doesn't fix it then replace the cable.

My guess it that you just have a failing or bad cable.

Ok, an update.

Guess i found out why i cant connect via ftp/smb.
It wont take my unlock key, says its invalid.
Dont know whats going on. it worked perfectly 2 days ago. :roll:

I go to the unlock webpage on the server, press the key image (Click on this link button to submit the above information and request an Unlock Code from Server Elements.) Im then being sent to a webpage and get the unlock key. Punch it in via telnet. get the respons, The Unlock Code ( ***** ) is invalid...
A valid Unlock Code must be provided.

Any suggestions?

hmmmm - dont understand what is happening with the unlock

easiest way - [i think] is go to the system pages via you web browser - just type 192.168.x.x or whatever ip you have given your box - navigate to unlock and press the key symbol - it should not take you anywhere else - it just shows the unlock key

go back to you nas box via telnet or the like and enter the unlock key - save [option 9] reboot and it should work

Hi.
thats what i have done with the unlock thingy.

Still gets invalid key.

Going to split the sucker open and start over again. removing disks and see what happends then.

I still dont get it why it wont take my unlock key. But i know this, when i notice it on the webpage(that the unlock key was not valid), it was a diffrent key showing.
Somehow im getting another key now. Maybe i have a hardware failure somewhere so the key is generatet wrong, if that is even possible...

Silly me didnt think about writing it down before i punched in the new key i got from the unlock page.

check o and 0 [zero] have been caught with that before - where is the software loaded from and where is the config file stored - if you have had it on a drive and then use another device - cf card for example that can confuse

try a reinstall of the naslite software and whilst doing that remove the config data - cannot remember the option number but its there

Hi

it no o-0 in the key so thats not an issue.

I use a Usb flash guess the config is being saved there. Its no problem saving, after a reboot the new key i just used is still there so its saving as it should.

i guess a reinstall is in order. the only thing is that the backup image of the iso is on the NAS, so i cant reburn a cd. hmm have to search around the house after the old cd i used when i did a upgrade.. this may take some time :?

update again

I found a old cd with V2,02 for usb

Installed it on the sandisk flash, rebooted. Everything looks fine so far not getting the error messages in syslog.

it didnt mount disk-3 but in telnet all the options in storage was usable. Did a check and repair on disk-3, after some time it passed, so now its mounted and everything is just dandy

And the unlock is also working.
i wonder what went wrong with the other install.

anyway.
