Hello,
Running NASLite-2 (V2.10) with 3 IDE attached disks, I added an Adaptec 2410SA SATA RAID card with a 250 GB disk and it works well. For data security reasons I decided to create a RAID1 array and therefor added two Hitachi 7K1000.B 1 TB disks. To begin I wanted to test the disks and just created a VOLUME definition without RAID array like the 250 GB disk. At boot, the card controller messages were 'OPTIMAL' for the three 'arrays'.
After login in NASLite I went to the storage menu and had only the format option (4) for Disk-4 and Disk-5, and after a few seconds I got:

ERROR!
Formatting of Disk-4 failed

same message for Disk-5.

Thanks for help,
Damien

I had a similar issue with the adaptec 2610sa. Replacing sata cables solved it for a little bit, but what I found out later on after RMA-ing seagate drives that I had, was that my PSU was underpowering the drives and every so often they would hick-up and trip up the array.

Bought a 500 watt PSU and the array has not compained since. I am running RAID-5.

Hello,
Yes, could be the PSU or the memory size also because NasLite is running on a small configuration but it worked. I'll increase the memory first because I had a problem while formatting the drive undr NasLite, if I still have problems I'll look at the PSU. It should be ok but I confess I added to more drives to the existing three, perhaps it's too much !!
Thanks for your answer,
Damien
