I just built my first NASlite 2 system, and once I had solved the NIC card compatibility issue I thought I was in the clear, until I tried to transfer any type of large file across the network.

I am testing the transfers using a variety of file sizes from 1gig and up. The file transfer will start going @ the full speed of my outgoing network card, around 16 MB/s of actual transfer for roughly 10 seconds before the transfer will stop cold. The system will then sit there around 200%+ cpu load with the memory full. I have 2 gigs of memory in the system, so the 500MB of data given to it in this time shouldn't fill that up, but it apears to. Any suggestions?

For starters, make sure that you turn off all the devices in the BIOS that you can. The problem you are having is sometimes related to an IRQ conflict. Another thing to try is moving the NIC to a different PCI slot. A third thing to try is a different NIC, one from the list of known good and working cards.
