NASLite-2 v2.6 Hardware Detection Tool

Below is a prerelease of the Hardware Detection Tool for NASLite-2 v2.6 and NASLite-M2 v1.6.
Since this is a prerelease there's no documentation yet, however it's extremely easy to understand. The HDT will render hardware details of the machine booted on, of most interest will be storage cards and ethernet adapters. Under the Kernel Modules menu, this will list all storage devices and nice cards found.

Download and burn, this is small iso image about 1.3MB

Feedback will be appreciated on this.

Thanks.

ran it on a system expecting to be able to install it to a cf card as both my systems dont have a cd drive - could not see an option

am i missing something - if not then all i can sayu is it detected all the stuff on the system it booted on - but thats of little use as that system will never run naslite

The CORE3-HDT is just an utility that allows one to determine if a given system is compatible with the upcoming NASLite versions based on CORE3. It is not an OS that you install. We can also provide a floppy image (1.44M) for people that may find that more convenient, but past experience seems to indicate that the floppy option is perhaps obsolete.

At any rate, to use the tool, simply boot on the machine you need to test. One thing that is worth a note is that if your hardware runs NASLite currently, then it will most likely run future versions based on CORE3.

The primary purpose of HDT is to help people with hardware provisioning for CORE3 since it offers extensive improvements in hardware support and will likely support many of the components that people have been unable to use with past versions.

Also, a preliminary list of supported hardware can be found here:
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2929 (FIXED)

Hope that helps...

The topic you are linking to under ("a preliminary list of supported hardware ...") is a circular loop ... pointing back to itself.

So, if i get modules listed for nic and storage, then it's supported right? If that's true, then 2.6 is the ticket for my newer 3ware cards. The 9xxx driver is right on top of it.

If you have a valid download link it will be free, if the link is expired it may be revalidated to download v2.6

Thanks.

Actually the NIC is "Atheros AR8112 10/100 LAN" according to here: http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Produc ... =1&LanID=9

But that does not appear in the Hardware Guide: http://www.serverelements.com/file.php? ... erence.pdf

Will V2.6 have improved ACPI support over the current 1.02 M2? My current motherboard is not supported for Fan State, Cooling Mode, Thermal State, or CPU Temp.
