Nice! 50mb/s is very swift.... .... but that's a true server motherboard for you!

That would be me :-)

That is actually my old system. I'm building a bigger one as we speak.

New specs:

Intel SE7501HG2 motherboard
Dual Xeon 2.4Ghz (quad core total)
2GB ECC Registered DDR266
2x 3Ware 7506-8 RAID cards
16 Hot swap drive bays
Zippy Emacs triple redundant power supply
8x 320GB
3x 250GB
5x 160GB
Naslite-2 on a 32MB compact flash card via IDE

I really wish I could use the 3ware monitoring utility on NL2 though. I might pull one of the CPU's since it isn't being used either.

Nice setup but a total waste of processor horse power. A 2GHz Celeron will perform just as well and eat allot less power to boot. Besides, with NL three of the four cores will not even be used.

Looking forward to v2.6 a lot. I love the concept of lightweight OS, but with the faster hardware these days, it doesn't need to be so small that features are left out.

IMO the exisiting 2.11 would be great to keep available for utilizing older hardware, but I also vote for letting NL2 get a bit bigger and full featured where faster hardware is available. I really want to be able to monitor the health of arrays on my 3Ware RAID cards, if that is ever possible.

I agree. As I've said before, I'd love to see a "NASMedium" as well as a "NASLite". This way you can continue to keep NASLite focused on: small, easy, reliable, and fast while offering an alternative for folks who want something that supports newer hardware and has more configuration options.
