I have a NASLite-2 server running as a server with 2 other Windows XP machines. All 3 are connected to a Linksys Home Gateway (router, modem, switch, firewall, WAP). I have set Firefox o the XP machines to download straight to the server - which it does. My XP machines run Norton Internet Security 2008 (NIS 2008) and have all Windows updates in place.
Just to clarify - are files being downloaded straight to the server by-passing NIS 2008, or are they being downloaded to some sort of temp file in the relevant XP machine, scanned by NIS 2008, and then shifted to the server? Are there any security concerns here?
