right now I'm using a dell desktop tower to run my NAS and in an effort to be more GREEN I've looking at scaling the system itself back to fit inside a mini-box:

Now, I can get a jetware board with a CF reader and itll hold two sata drives so for me, thats golden

My questions stem from the idea of using CF for the OS itself... I believe to have read on here discussions about read/write cycles and that there can be issues

Is CF something to worry about?

My NASLite installation has been on a CF card in an IDE adapter for about 2 years now - no problems yet.

NL only writes to the CF on the initial build of the OS and when you make a change to the configuration. Beyond that, there are no writes and hence no ware of the Flash cells. You have nothing to worry about. I have been using a CF for my OS for some time as well. Reads do not ware the cells of flash memory so as long as there are drivers for the SATA and NIC on the MB you are golden.
