Hi.

If I install NL2.10 on HDD0 and format the free part to put the data on it, what will happen when NL will mirror drive 0 on drive 1 ?

Probably no problems for the data par but the NL boot partition will (may?) have open files and thus Mirror errors. The idea was to be able to swap drive 0 with drive 1 in case of problems with drive 0 and just restart the NL server.

Anybody have any experience with mirroring the NL boot partition while NL is running ?

Regards.

Are you talking about using the mirroring function built into a RAID card or using the function built into NL.

NL doesn't write to the HDD after boot, or during as far as I know. It creates a RAM drive, loads the image there and runs from it. The end result is that you will have to build both drives the exact same way and then setup the mirror for drive one to drive two. That is the only way I can see for there to be the option of swapping drives and booting from the second or backup.

I was talking about the mirror function of NL. If NL copies files to RAMDisk at boot, then I can mirror the HDD0 to HDD1 without any problems :)

Thanks for the info.

Actually the only part that runs from the RAM disk is the OS. The extra RAM is used for read/write buffers to speed up file access and make better use of the read and write cycles of the drives.
