I have upgraded to version 2.10 on a working HDD based system.
I'm in the process of replacing the system HDD with a CF-card on a CF-to-IDE adapter.
I'm able to boot until NASLite on the second line says: "Detecting configuration device"
Here it fails.

My question is now: What are the requirements to a "configuration device"?

regards

did you install to the cf yet or are you booting from the cd? 2.10 can run from cd or install to other drives.

I installed from the CD on to the CF (in IDE adapter) on another PC.
Then I moved the CF (with adapter) to the NAS PC (VIA Epia LN10000EG) and now boot from the CF.
There is no CD-drive attached. Only other drive is the Data HDD which is residing on a SATA channel.

First: get version 2.11, the installer is much better

What you are trying to do "should" work,
I always install to my CF card via a cheap little cardreader, then I move it to the ide/CF adapter
in the nas to boot from
Not sure if I used superfloppy or hd mode to create the CF card,
not sure if it's even available anymore in 2.11 (still on 2.06 and running fine)

If you got an older version of naslite lying around, you can use that to install to your cf card
in superfloppy or hd mode (depends on your hardware)
and get it running/configured
then you need to replace 2 files on the CF card with the version on the 2.11 installer
naslite.01 and naslite.02
if you replace those, you got the new version
the config file remains and works with the updated version

good luck
TC

I got the version 2.11
Still the same "configuration device failed"
Took the CD and the CF card to a friend and tried to install directly to a card reader with the CF card.
There the installation worked.
And with this CF card in the CF-to-IDE adapter my NAS is running again. :D

But why it does not work on my PC is still a good question, but most likely beyond the scope of this forum.
