I haven't. I just saw the release of 2.10, but I'm trying to figure out if I can scrounge up the cash for it, since my purchase was long enough ago that I don't have an upgrade link.

Just use the upgrades page to get your download link. It will send it to your email address you used with paypal when you bought.

Okay, so I just used the email link to re-send my de-activated download link. If I pay the $5 to "re-activate" the link, does that mean I can then get free updates for the next 180 days, or does that mean for the next 180 days I'll be able to pay an additional amount to upgrade, but less than full price?

I do not think that the additional product purchase discount has an expiry date.

Okay, good news/bad news.

Good news is I re-activate the link and upgraded to 2.10. For the most part, all seems good. But because of the problems I was having before (that I shouldn't have been having even on 2.02) I ended up upgrading my hardware a bit. I was upgrading my HTPC anyway, so I just threw out the VERY old stuff I was using for NL before and put in the mb/cpu/ram from my old HTPC build.

Bad news: first, let me explain the hardware...
- I have 7 total drives I'm trying to mount, 5 are IDE and 2 are SATA.
- The mb only has 2 IDE connectors, so I can only connect 4 of the IDE drives directly to the mb. This was the same situation as with the previous hardware, so I was using an add-on IDE card to attach the 5th drive. With the old hardware, NASLite recognized everything fine.

The problem is that NASLite no longer "sees" the 4 IDE drives attached directly to the mb if the add-on card is installed. Without the card, it will see all 6 of the other drives, but with the card, it will only see the two SATA drives and whatever's attached to the card (which, due to the layout of the case/board/card, is only reachable by one of the IDE drives anyway).

One solution is just to replace the 5th IDE drive with another SATA drive, but I'd rather not spend the money if I don't have to. The BIOS sees all 4 of the mb-connected IDE drives fine even with the card put in, but NASLite doesn't seem to recognize them. There's a setting in the BIOS that seems to have something to do with whether or not one or the other or both PCI or mb IDE drives are seen if there's a card attached, but it's set to BOTH and that isn't seeming to help anything.

Any suggestions on this one for me?

I'd bet you have an irq conflict somewhere. You need to get in the bios and make sure things are set right in there. I always start with reset to defaults and then go from there.

care to post a syslog?

I'll admit I don't understand IRQs very well, so I may not know exactly what to look for. The first thing I did on the install though was to reset the BIOS to factory settings, and I've tried moving the IDE card to the only other slot available, but that didn't change anything.

Is there another way to try messing with the IRQs?

EDIT: Just had a thought - would an IRQ conflict cause a problem with NASLite but not with the BIOS's ability to recognize the drives? Because the BIOS sees them all fine, even with the PCI board in. It's just NL that doesn't recognize them.

Looks like an IRQ nightmare. You need to go in the BIOS and disable everything you are not using. First reset to default, then things like LPT, COM, AUDIO, etc. should be disabled. With all the cards in place, disable PnP and allow the BIOS to reassign resources. You may have to switch PCI slots to enforce the order you are used to. Then, after a cold reboot you may enable PnP again.

To answer your question, the BIOS will not see the add-on board and show you the drives connected to the on-board ports. NASLite will try to render both where the conflict occurs.

Try cleaning the BIOS and things should quiet down.

Thanks Tony. That info sounds very helpful. I had reset the BIOS to factory defaults first thing and had assumed this would take care of whatever issues there might be. I'll post back after disabling the other services.

I disabled everything I could possibly think of within the BIOS and tried again. (One note: I had a menu item named PnP, but I couldn't figure out how to actually "disable" PnP. It just had a couple of options for whether or not to manually or automatically assign the IRQs for the two PCI slots. It was set to auto on both. I tried randomly assigning a manual number to both to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't).
