I have two HDs running in the NAS. Lost power during Hanna. NAS admin shows disk0, and disk 1, but status for 1 is not mounted.... Any way to recover w/o formatting again?

The option to check disk1 file system has an *, so no joy there.

Thanks!

Another way is to boot the box using a live Linux distro like Ubuntu or Knoppix and run the check that way.

A damaged partition table will cause that. If NASLite can't identify an ext2/3, it will assume the drive is empty and needs to be formatted.

Thanks, Tony. I'm fiddling around with knoppix to see if i can save any of it. Hopefully I can find a program to download to make it eaiser.

Hi, I have had similar damage recently, not to mention a formatting accident but we won't go there! I downloaded and used with great success a program called R-Linux. Recovered a lot of data on 1 disk and all on the formatted one. Program is also open source. It expects you to install on a Windows machine and run the disk, I used a USB caddy connected to my main Vista PC. It won't do across network. I tried one that did, but the Nas wouldn't let it in.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much! I'm using it right now. It is working!
My wife will be glad that we (read: I) didn't lose all those pictures.
