Hi All,

Finally got my NAS up and running but have noticed a few small issues.

1. The onboard Ethernet won't work. Is this a limitation of NASLite? If so I'll get a "supported" Gigabit Ethernet PCI card as the D-link PCI card I've installed works fine. I'm using an XFX 630i Motherboard with built in SATA & Ethernet.

2. The onboard SATA doesn't seem to be working. Software limitation?

3. The systems drive is only appearing as an 8 meg volume. Is this how NASLITE works? Does this mean that the System Volume cannot be used to store files?

4. My system volume is an PATA drive and is set to cabled select. When I try to add an additional Hard Drive using the same cable, the PC won't read the system drive. It sits there asking for boot software. Actually will check the bios on that on.

EDIT: Have checked and the BIOS is seeing the SATA drive connected to the onboard SATA interface. But the drive is still not visible during the initial "pass/fail" start-up screen

Thanks in advance.

Am really impressed with the software so far.

T

Note for the developers: Am using this in a mixed environment (Mac & PC).

Read through the hardware guide in the hardware section first. Also, since there are so many SATA chipsets out there it is a good chance that there are going to be at least a few not supported in NL. You need to look at the BIOS and make sure it is set correctly for the SATA drives.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply. Have sorted out the SATA issue. I'd used a IDE PATA drive as the system drive (had it laying around) and was trying to connect a SATA drive. I removed the PATA drive and loaded the SATA drive as the System drive and it worked fine which leads me to believe that the the onboard SATA is supported.

Must have been an issue using SATA and IDE/PATA drives together. Can someone confirm this?

Now for the onboard Gigabit Ethernet Port. Any suggestions?

SATA and PATA should co-exist quite nicely within NASLite. You have said that the System Volume is 8MB - that would be correct as that also is the size of a NASLite USB partition.

Have you been into the storage menu and formatted (if necessary) and exported the drives?

I have had no problem in the past with multiple IDE and SATA drives using the onboard IDE / SATA interfaces on a previous motherboard.
