I'm looking for any help possible. I'm ready to pull my hair out at this point. :x

Here is what I am running:

Gateway E-5250 tower
Intel (Spearfish) Dual Pentium II Slot 2 GX Motherboard
1 - 550MHz CPU
640MB RAM (non-ECC)
1 - AGP Video card
1 - 1GB Compact Flash card in IDE 0 (Master)
1 - Sony CRROM in IDE 0 (Slave)
4 - 750GB SATA drives (Samsung) in a RAID 5 configuration
1 - Promise FastTrak Tx4310 SATA RAID controller
1 - Linksys Gigabit Network Adapter

The floppy and secondary IDE is turned off in the BIOS.
The Boot order is CDROM then Hard Drive (1GB CF).
Serial and Parallel ports turned off in the BIOS.

When I boot, everything appears to be normal, but after the POST, nothing happens and the CD does not spin up and in the screen I get "No Operating System Found...". If I uninitialize the 4 750GB drives during POST, the CD spins up and NAS Lite 2 starts to load. However, with the drives initialized, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I know some people have had problems with the TX4310 (use the search function to find the thread in question) so first make sure the chipset used on your revision is indeed supported for raid in NL. You dont need the harddrive in the boot order until you actually need to boot off of it. I'm not familiar with the HDD-version installation procedure but I guess its done by booting the install CD then installing NL to the HDD? Just disable the raid for now and get NL installed to the CF then you can remove the CD physically and from the BOOT order and install the RAID hardware.

Superboss,

Thanks, I will try that right now and see what happens. I was under the impression that I had to have all of the drives installed before running NL.

Update - NL up and running and TX4310 not supported.

Superboss - have you had any problems with your LSI MEGARAID SATA 150-4 Controller Card?
Also, do you know if the LSI MEGARAID SATA 150-6 Controller Card would work?
I have not been able to find anything on it. Thanks again for your help.

My experience with the LSI Megaraid is not very good to be honest.. its working but numbers are pretty much all over the place. Then again I know Ralph (one of the creators of NL) is using the 150-6 so it should perform well. I just purchased an Areca 1210 instead but as of now its not supported by NASLite so I'm going to run it on an alternative platform. Check the hardware section of this forum for the supported hardware (there is a link to a PDF with all the supported raid controllers - just make sure you check under the raid controller section, not the SATA one). Of the NL supported brands I'd go for a 3Ware one.
