Ok, well we have a current Naslite-1 server set up with 2 x 250Gb HDDs, and we've just purchased Naslite-2 USB with the intention of building a second box to replace the first. The box itself is all set up and ready to go, just need to install Naslite-2.

However, my question is, is it possible to take the 2 x 250Gb drives from the original box, and put them into the Naslite-2 box without loss of data?

Sure is, the disks are formated EXT2 and NL2 will see them just fine.

You should back up your files first though just in case. After they are installed you will also want to apply the journal to the disks so they become EXT3 file systems. Again, this shouldn't case any loss of data as it is transparent and can be applied to existing EXT2 file systems but still back up your data just to be safe.

I forgot to mention that I have done this with my disks ever since using NL1, the free version, and still have the same disks from 4 years ago on my present NL2 box. I have gone from machine to machine with no problem at all, NONE!

I still recommend that you back up your data though.

Awesome, thanks for your help guys.

Hopefully I'll get my Nas set up soon...my board died on me yesterday, and now I need a new graphics card compatible with my new board
