While this may be important I would like to disable or change it to check every 4 reboots. Is this possible? I have 8 discs and it takes over an hour each time I reboot! (Still configuring the server)

This may be a question offered in the manual, however every time I click the link to download it directs me to the sales page. I'm using Leopard and Firefox/Safari produce the same results. Is this something with my machine or perhaps a PHP issue which could be resolved on your end?

Just thought you guys might want to know about it. I didnt get chance to scour the forums as much as I wouldve liked so sorry if this is posted already.

BTW -- I am very pleased with the speed of this software. I've been a freenas user for sometime now and there is no comparison when it comes to speed. I do like the web front end offered in freenas but have become used to the telnet session. Is SSH in the future with perhaps a few permissions?

Disk checking is performed once every 20 or mounts or when improper unmount is detected. It should not happen on every reboot. That would indicate a hardware problem.

Do all of your drives get checked on reboot every time?

Thanks for the reply. Yes they are checked on every reboot. Not once has it skipped them.

Then your drives are not unmounting properly. How are you shutting down?

They are shut down using the shutdown command. No power outage. It has done this since I installed it. Even did a reinstall using a different sata controller. Same thing with that controller.

I have a mix or ide & sata drives. All of the drives do it, not just one or set (sata, ide)

Lately the sata drives have been not mounting properly either. I have to reboot again for them to mount. This doesnt happen all the time its intermittent. Everything seem to boot properly, as far as I can tell!

I had a flaky 3Ware RAID until I realised that I had an IRQ conflict that was causing problems - disabled all PnP and automatic IRQ assignment in BIOS and Robert was my proverbial mother's brother.

hi all,
Same "problem" here : the NAS is shut down with the concole application, and my HDD are checked every 2 reboots !

In both cases, per the supplied logs, the chipset appears to be the "VIA vt8237a (rev 00) IDE UDMA133" so the issue is likely with that particular device. Some things to try is to change the DMA settings in the BIOS and see if that makes a difference. I doubt it's a cable or a drive issue since all drives connected to the board appear to have a problem unmounting.
