I'm having a problem booting up from my HDD after the inital installation to the HDD.
When I turn the PC on I get the message
"uncompressing Naslite kurnel
OK, booting the kurnel"
and that's it. It just sits in that state.
I'm using a Seagate 400GB ATA drive.
I've also tried a Seagate 120GB ATA drive and get the same statement.
The bios auto detects the drives
I know the PC works as it was my Linux development box before I pulled it to pieces.
Any clues as to what is going on.
Thanks
Robert

make sure you've turned off everything you don't need i.e. LPT, Serial ports, USB etc. Also turn off PnP OS if available

Touchwood - it seems to be behaving itself. However the network activity graph seems to be showing a lot of activity when there's nobody accessing the thing. I've checked my Router logs and there doesn't seem to be any unauthorised access going on.
I'm still a bit nervous of trying the Transcend module in case it mucks up my settings.

How's yours doing, have you got your replacement from Transcend?

Thanks, that fixed the problem. I turned off everything I could find in the bios that I didn't need. From sound card to temperature and case open alarm. That's the first time I've seen a problem like that. Definately one to add to the old knowledge base.

Thanks for the help. Robert

I got my Transcend 32 MB Module today, put it in, reinstalled NASLite, made the appropriate settings, got my new unlock code, and everything works like it should. No problems whatsoever. Fast boot (did not time, but I guess it's under 2 minutes).
The whole music library is still on the RAID array (did not expect differently).
The only annoying aspect is that (after I named the NASbox differently, and then changed it back) XP is still showing the unavailable name in the network window.
So if you know how to get that clean, do not hesitate to tell me.

Have you got another Naslite box on the network? I had a similar problem with mine. If you have another Naslite server running make sure both items 4 & 5 (Name & Comment) in the Network Configuration menu are different on both servers.
EDIT - Sometimes Windoze takes a little while to recognise new computers on the network.

For the record: you were right. It took XP a day to realize that there was no second NASbox in the network. Thanks. Good luck with the flash module.
