I've been transfering tons of small files with very long file names.
The names also contain lots of odd characters ( - / , . : ; ' etc...)
Does the naslite (or linux) file system care about such things?

Its very easy for me to strip the file names of illegals.

I'm asking because with certain folders i'm transfering the transfer always stops with an unexpected error msg (code -50 in OS X 10.4) at the same place.
These folder are big 5Gb+

thanks
Paul

Well, that all depends on what it is you are doing. For example, if you are using AFP with a Mac exclusively, then you have nothing to worry about. However, if you are using your NASLite-2 as a x-platform server and Windows as well as Linux or Mac are accessing the same files via multiple protocols, Samba, AFP, etc., then you should be careful not to introduce incompatibilities into the shared filesystems.

Well it is an all mac environment, but i'd like it windows safe too.

There was definitely a character that naslite didn't like. I believe either a : or a / in one of the folders as when removed it the transfers fine.

I've striped all my file names so there smb safe anyway.

thanks again
