hello,

now i am download NASlite-2 this day and test it.
To the NAS with a Seagate 7200.10 500GB hdd is link two WinXP PC over cifs/smb and a Dreambox (Linux based sat-receiver) over nfs.
First i miss is a scheduler for shutdown the system. I want to power down the NAS over night and start it in the mornig by bios wakeup. I didn't found a scheduler for shutdown the system in NASlite.
Next i want is to put the hdd in standby if this is 15min inactiv. I also miss this in NASlite-2.
Is there any way to do this with NASlite ?

Thanks for help

regards
Thorsten

The options that you describe are not missing since they have never been a part of NASLite-2. There are external utilities provided by NASLite users that may be helpful in achieving your goal.

just put it on a time clock - switch the timeclock to on 5 minutes after it switches off and it will not power up - switch it back on when you want by the bios wakeup

Hello thkogel:

It can't be done EXACTLY the way you want (because NASLite does not have that feature) ... but think about it: you said

The NAS server is serving some other system (PC or MAC or Linux). Before that other system shuts down it can shut down the NAS, right ? That's what the scripts were written for ...

Right georg. The last System is based on Linux- the dreambox (Busybox 1.0.1)

ok ... I am not familiar with that one. But a quick Yahoo! search for "Busybox remote disk" yielded this: http://www.busybox.net/downloads/BusyBox.html. On that page a "telnet" command is shown as being available. Since I am not familiar with this BusyBox I am not sure how much more help I can be. Is there a shutdown configuration file which allows you to insert a script which executes a "telnet <nas-ip>" and logs in as the poweroff user ?

:) Georg
