Hi all,

I have installed NASLite-2 HDD on a K6-2 450 system previously running happily as a NAS box under Fedora, though with L_O_N_G boot times which I hoped NASLite would shorten.

I have straight way run up against 2 problems with NASLite.

1. ACPI (which I know works on my MOBO) has been turned off by the NASLite kernel because the bios dates from 1999, according to the log! That explains why the power button suspends rather than shuts down the system. To turn ACPI on I need to pass ACPI=force to the kernel. How do I do this?

2. I have just the SAMBA service running, but I can't find any way to administer SAMBA - eg to create user folders and set user IDs and passwords, hence I can't see the shared volume at all from Windows XP.

A further non-critical change I would like to make is to set the administrator ID to "root" rather than "admin" as per linux convention.

Any advice on these matters would be VERY MUCH appreciated - meanwhile it's back to old HDD with the Fedora installation.

Thanks.

Peter
