Got the server set up using the asus WSPro board. It seems stable, booted up no problem on my first go at the bios setup. Made the mistake of getting a PCE-e GFX card which blocks off one of the PCI-X slots. Did a filesystem check and repair which seems to have recovered all my data which i'm over the moon about.
I've looked at the log file and the only thing that worries me is the last bit.

Any comments on whether this is a problem, and if so any remedies.

I'm using an old 3.5" 20 gig drive as the boot device, not sure what ATA rating it is.

TIA

Try disabling udma for the drive in the bios and see if that goes away.

This always happens :(
I decided to turn off my old Naslite USB server (to save some electricity) as my new HDD setup seemed to be behaving itself. Got in from work today and noticed the silence in the computer room - the Naslite HDD machine was off. I pressed the power button and it booted up no problem without a disk check.
Any ideas what might have caused it?

LOL

- You switched off unconsiously your NASLite box before work
- There was a power problem while you were at work
- Your wife/girlfriend/cleaning woman or a environmental concious cat turned the darn thing off
- Your power cord wasn't connected properly

Take care, hope your NAS life improves over time,
Pieter

My wife doesn't know where the dusters are kept and she wouldn't be too happy if my girlfriend was in the house while she was at work  Mind i wouldn't put it past the cat he's a right little s*d.

I think there may have been a momentary power outage during the day, my HTPC must have rebooted as it was on the windows desktop and i usually leave the Meedio interface running.

Seems to be no harm done - i'm sooo happy i chose Naslite, particularly now i seem to have some stable hardware, i think other free offerings might not have been so forgiving.

Yeah, NASLite is pretty cwool. I am very happy with the double redundancy: 500 Gb RAID 1 + a daily automatic incredimental backup to a 500 Gb internal SATA drive. Only a house on fire would destroy my documents, drawings and libraries.

The only thing, here, is that it's pretty windy under my desk. NASLite is not monitoring fans, and the motherboard itself doesn't care, it seems. Maybe I should have a look in the BIOS.....

Anybody a clue?
