 Post subject: Setting Up remote Access

I want to set up my file server so that I can access my files remotely via my router. can someone give me some pointers where to start please.

It all depends on what you want to do. Keep in mind that Naslite is a community NAS and that all of the content is available for access by all.

The best way is to use a VPN. That is the preferred way regardless of what you got on your network. On the other hand, the easiest way is to forward port 80 to the NAS so you, and everyone else can access your stuff online using a web browser. No one can change your files, but everyone will be able to read them. There is also everything in between, including running an authenticated FTP server on another machine, sharing the NAS files.

at first you have to concern about your isp . R u using static or dynamic ip ? then is port 80 or 21 open ? if 80 open you can make a web server and able to access from internet if port 21 open you can make ftp server which also able to access from web.

then you have to concern about ur router . you will get more help at your router user manual how to setup a web or ftp server. or let me know what ur router name & model then might able to help you.

i have succesfully setup ftp server which i can able to access from anywhere.
