So what's the consensus? Is anyone having better luck with the 2.06 version of WOL?

I have been pressed by other priorities and unable to put much time into this. But I can say -- after a few short tests -- that 2.06 is no better and no worse than before. To wit: It works as well for me as before, and I still have the issue on one machine (on-board NIC) that will not do WOL *unless* it is turned on manually once, then shutdown (via the power button, the new "poweroff" login, or my old shutdown scripts), and has power cord never removed (not unplugged or simulated or real power-outage). Since NL is on UPS, unless there's a really long power interruption, all seems fine. I don't have gigabit PCI NICs to test, and have not taken the time to check the one regular PCI NIC I do have.
Hope that helps ...
:) Georg

I ask because I've tried several different NICs in this older Gateway. None WOL after a NASLite shutdown- all LEDs on the card are dark. But if I boot off a DOS or Windows floppy and do a shutdown, one of the LEDS remains on and the PC will boot into NASLite once.

I guess I'm asking if 2.06 is better at leaving the NIC in the semi-powered state required for WOL to work.

mine is an Asus p3 with a NIC card - 2.05 would not work with it - remote shutdown worked but that was it - it was 2.05 that caused WOL not to work as WOL worked in windows

just checked it now and there are no lights showing on the NIC - run wol and it powered up

so for my system 2.06 works
