I have not seen any other comments on this so I guess I am the first.

After installing NASLite-2 USB v2.06 I am having problems with my Intel motherboard with on-board PRO/1000 NIC. The port seems to just stop responding. If I unplug the ethernet cable and reinsert, it works again for about 30 seconds. I can continue to repeat this process over and over.

There are no syslog entries to suggest any problems, in fact the plugging and unplugging (when it stops responding) does not create a link down entry.

I have Version 2.05 on a different flash drive and if I boot off of it, everything works perfectly.

I installed a GA-311 Netgear NIC and it also works perfectly, so I feel the issue is between the e1000 driver and Version 2.06.

Any suggestions?

Jerry

But not alone, I have tried the intel nics. I have never had one stop like you describe but I have seen in all my cases lots of errors. I considered that maybe it was NL but later decided that maybe it was my switch since I had changed it. I had a couple of 3 com cards and have used those instead with out any issues at this time.

So I'm still not sure, I just kept was was working in place. Maybe there is something to it. One box I have has 3com and the other is broadcom both so far flawless. Maybe over the weekend I can drop one of the intel cards back in.. I have a couple of them I can try..

I've been using an Intel pro 1000 in my naslite box since I started testing 2.06, no problems on my end, link up, down works :

Aug 25 22:33:01 user.info kernel: EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
Sep 4 22:05:39 user.info kernel: e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Down
Sep 5 04:13:41 user.info kernel: e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex, Flow Control: RX/TX

What model is it?

Also, verify you do not have a IRQ conflict, the 2.4.35 kernel apparently changes the order of detecting some devices.
