I just got my nas running. when in the Server Storage page under the heading of S.M.A.R.T. it indicates unavailable. As far as I know I have everything set correctly.

Running a LSI MEGARaid sata150-6 in a RAID 5 with 4 seagate barracuda 250gb

as far as I know, NL doesn't read SMART data from raid controllers. at least not from mine anyway.

Having the same situation, drives connected to my LSI Megaraid 150-4 are listed as S.M.A.R.T UNAVAILABLE. Is this the expected behaviour Ralph/Tony? Running v2.04 with LSI Megaraid SATA 150-4 with 3x250GB Samsung Spinpoint drives.

I have a 150-6, the last time I checked, there was no way to query the smart data on each drive. We're starting to see raid cards supporting this, most probably felt in the past their audible alarms were enough. I would like to see a firmware update myself to support this.

Went ahead and contacted LSI on the matter just to see if it would be possible to release an updated firmware. Here is the "reply":

Quote:
The MegaRAID 150-4 will report any smart information the disk sends to it. Our utilities however do not have an option to interrogate the drive to obtain particular SMART information.

The MegaRAID 150-4 is no longer in development, so no new features will be added to the utilities it uses.

Thank you,
