Bit of a strange one this ..

I'm on a gigabit network - cat5e - fast drives etc.

I have a system that runs perfect other than this problem: when accessing the nas using windows shares and I try to write files to the NAS it's very slow - sub 10/100. When I read files it's full speed.

Yet when I copy the same files using FTP - it's full speed on both read/writes across the board.

I tried lowering the duplex to 100mbps and it was faster than in the auto - gigabit setting.

I've tried every combination but I can't get shares to write to the NAS via CIFS at a decent speed.

I've swapped the network card twice (both compatible chipsets).

Normal write speeds across gigabit for me are about 1GB per minute - when using CIFS it drops to 500kB/s. (30MB per min)

The only thing I think I could've done wrong is indescriminantly swapped the network cards without re-installing the NAS-Lite software.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Great software though - saved me buying a dedicated nas drive at £xxxx.

Hi,

I have the same problem and been working on it (without any solutions for the moment) for a week now.

If you want to have a look on what I have tried:
