Anyone try NASLite -2 CDD with this model SATA controller? I am looking for a controller for my system and any recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Yes. I'm using it now. Seems to be working perfectly.

The driver support (libata and sata_promise) should have been included as of kernel version 2.4.27

What exact model Promise card are you using?

I just installed a new TX4310 and NAS Lite doesn't seem to recognize it :(

I thought you were referencing the TX4 series...didn't know the TX4 was a specific model.

Any idea why my TX4310 won't work properly with NAS Lite 2? I have more details in the thread I started (near the top of this forum).

Your input/help would be greatly appreciated!

For almost every model, they use a different chipset. Even a minor revision to a model number could potentially mean that they used a different chipset.

To find out if one will work, what I did was find out the exact chipset that was used for a model that I liked. Then, based upon the kernel version that NL2 is currently using, I Google'd to see if there is driver support in the kernel for the chipset.

Do you know of any way to manually add in a driver?

While it IS possible, if you have to ask, it's too complicated.

You'd need command line access with root privileges and the knowledge of how to back port drivers into the kernel and then set the rest of of it up. It's not exactly trivial.
