Hi all,

I am a new user to NASLite and I have to say it's looking like a damn good buy already but...

I have a Silicon Image Raid controller and a 3 disk RAID 5 array (totalling 750gb ish). The problem I have is that in the Storage Config menu my 3 drives show up independently and not as 1 drive as I expected it to.

It would seem I have no software installed to take a screenie, so here's the best I can do:
Code:
 [ server ] - Administration Utility - NASLite-2 USB v2.05 05-2007

 STORAGE CONFIGURATION MENU

      0 - Disk-0, SCSI-1-0-0-0
      1 - Disk-1, SCSI-2-0-0-0
      2 - Disk-2, SCSI-4-0-0-0
      * - Disk-3, SCSI-5-0-0-0

G - General Storage Option Menu

R - Return To Main Option Menu

I have been using this controller card and the same drives in other O/Ses without problems which makes me think something funny is going on with NASLite.

I'm running NASLite USB 2.05 with a Via EPIA MS1000 motherboard, 512mb RAM and the Silicon Image 3114 controller.

Any help anyone could offer will be much appreciated :)

Hi,

I'm a newbie too but have been looking into NL and the forum so here is a first answer:

If you see 3 drives instead of one, then probably NL is NOT seeing the RAID array. It is probable that the RAId controler is NOT on the hardware list and is NOT compatible with your RAID card. Check on the hardware section on the forum.

I had the same problem with my new MoBo which had RAID chip but (as I learned later) it was a software RAID. The RAID array was seen in XP Pro but 3 individual drives were seen in NL.

Regards

Oh fudge. Suddenly it all becomes clear.

It states in the supported hardware docs that Software RAID is not supported, so although my controller is supported the RAID bit isn't.

Just as you suggested, Robrub.
