The original post was intended to let people know what items are complete enough to make it into 2.06. Beta testing will have to confirm that the additions are stable or otherwise. Release will be a few days after everything passes beta. Tentatively, we are hoping to get 2.06 out sometime in July.

HDD is still in our immediate queue, but for some unfortunate reason keeps getting passed in favor of improving the core. As it stands, we are not completely satisfied with the HDD installer, although it is close. I'm not going to make any promises, obviously I've broken them before  but we'll make an effort to get it back on track.

User login for FTP by itself probably does not make much sense. We are interested in providing a unified login that will be enforced across all protocols. That is not a simple task, especially within the current minimalist framework. We have identified a number of possible solutions and will hopefully surprise folks in the near future.

Starting with 2.06 USB keyboards attached to the server can be used to operate the admin menu. A mouse however is not supported and therefore not needed.

I hope that covers the above questions. If I left anything unanswered, please feel free to ask again.

thanks - being new to Naslite i suppose i ask all the wrong questions - its something i am playing with - no big deal if I make a mess and loose stuff at the moment

any chance of a copy of the beta to play with

the wol thing is something that i want - at the moment its not working for me and if i knew it was going to then it would save me looking for another motherboard

Hi Ralph,

Will 2.06 change anything on the detected hardwares? New LAN chips detected ?

Best regards

Any ideas when a 64-bit version will be released...

I've just upgraded all my NAS servers to P4 and Celeron 64bit chips so it would be nice to see it using the 64bit code :)

How is that going to improve your network performance?

It wont, but it would allow people to fully utilise their new and up to date kit... :)

I too would like to see if 2.06 would use new LAN chips... such as the gigabit chip built into my new NAS...

Its a Attansic L1 Gigabite Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-t Adapter...

Any ideas if this is going to be supported.... ie so I can rip out my PCI gigabit card and use the entire onboard stuff :)

Your 64bit CPU will wait on the rest of the hardware regardless if Naslite is a 64bit or a 32bit app. So how will the existing 32bit Naslite underutilize your new and up to date kit?

Now drivers are another story. :)

Upcoming changes look good, might I also suggest logical ordering of drives on the status page. kinda annoying to list drive as 0,1,10,11,2,3,4 and so on. Thanks and keep up the good work.
