sorry if this is the wrong place but you do not have a general section

i am very new to nas servers - the idea seems excellent - but having had the opportunity to play with a version pf Naslite+ 1.4 i am more nervous then when i started out

have lost a drive twice in as many days - it was there - it was partitioned and had data on it but Naslite got to the checking partition stage and locked - i could find no way past it - in the end i had to start again by deleting the partition in windows

now the problems may well be me - but to commit to something - even if the cost is reasonable as Naslite is it would be nice to have a period to play - you can say i have but i know if i go with it i want version 2 as i want sata support

would it not be possible to issue a 30day licence - many suppliers do this and i am sure it in many instances brings in business

Freenas is just that - free - but as a product it is miles behind Naslite - i had looked and rejected it - but now wonder - to trust data to something like this needs confidence - my is lacking at the moment

This is an un-official reply. I understand your feelings and I sympathise, however to my knowledge there is no trial version. However you can see that there are literally thousands of happy users out there. I, myself started out with the Naslite Free to test, then bought Naslite+ 1.4 then NASLITE2-USB and then NASLITE2-CDD (for another machine). I have been more than happy with the program. Any possible glitches are likely to be the user's h/w and if you are still nervous than post your exact h/w description, including any raid adapters, for comment.

At the end of the day, I don't think that the cost of Naslite is too high even if it was a right-off (which it won't be), considering what it would give you. It license cost is less than most IT worker's time charge for 1 hr :)

Good luck with your next step...
