Sorry for bothering you guys, but i have spend three days trying to get this to work.
----
My naslite-2 USB is installed on a 64mb CF flashcard through a CF/IDE adapter.

I installed 2*400gb storage harddisks through a sis680 controller.
Naslite found them both without problems.

Thereafter i formatted them, setup serial and rebooted the system.

at the startup screen, everything gets a DONE and no problems are detected.

it even writes that the mounting (disk 1+2) is ok
it starts services (telnet, http, ftp, smb/cifs nfs up allright. (done)

I can see the server in window xp under workgroups. It does however give the error:

"Nas-lite2 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions"

If i try to FTP to it, i can only see the bootdrive and cannot copy anything to it.

under the graphical interface through the webinterface, only the bootdrive shows, but both disks are showing through the terminal.

If anyone could help i would be really greatfull.
Thanks in advance :)

Under the "GENERAL STORAGE OPTION MENU" the option "Export disks default" has always been set to [RW] if thats what you mean... any other surgestions?

Each disk has a RW/RO/-- setting option associated with it. At boot time look at the console and see if the disks are "IDLE". If so then Kev1000000 is correct and you'll have to set each disk to "RW".

I see a simlar problem. I was using the same configuration (i.e. CF as an IDE disc) but see exactly the same using a stright USB flash drive.

The storage disc (an ADAPTEC 2400A in Raid 0) isn't displayed. If I go to storage options I see "* - DISK 0, SCSI 1-0-0-0" but the only options I can select are General storage option and return to main menu.

If I refit my V2.04 flash everything works fine. It looks like an issue with version 2.05 to me - I have updated from Naslite+ through every version bar 2.03 previously without a problem.

Any advice on what might be user errors welcomed.

What you are seeing is your USB boot drive and not your RAID. You will not be able to set any config options on your boot drive for obvious reasons. Your RAID is most likely improperly configured. Take a look at the syslog for details.

Txs for the swift response Tony - since the same configuration of RAID hardware is recognized with 2.04 (and earlier versions) I'm puzzled as to what could be improperly configured.

I can literally just change my CF card in my IDE adaptor between one containing 2.04 version and another with 2.05; with the first it sees the RAID and in the second it doesn't - no other changes at all.

The Adaptec RAID card bios utility confirms the Card is functioning fine and the RAID is in in Optimal state.

Anyone else using the Adaptec 2400A RAID card on 2.05 successfully?

Now that is strange! :?

Can you post the syslogs from 2.04 and 2.05 respectively so I can take a look. There should be no difference between the two, so I'm at a loss.

I am not sure what you mean by "Kev1000000 is correct and you'll have to set each disk to "RW"." but during boot no text with "idle" appears, and at the loginprompt, the disks get a Mounting storage (Disk 1+2) .... Done

Could you please tell me what to look for?

Both disks are, by the way, set to "RW"

Hm! :?

I don't see the I2O init in the 2.05 syslog. I need to look at the source and see if it was omitted for some strange reason. Meanwhile, you can copy the kernel from v2.04 into your CF and use it that way until I can take a closer look.

I can confirm that my suspicion was in fact correct. The 2.05 kernel is missing the Adaptec I2O RAID support. That will be corrected in the next release. Please accept my apologies.

Ok. I will try again. If you remember the original question.

Could you please tell me why it is impossible to access drives even though all drives are set to RW and all mounts all right.

they are mountet through a sis 680 ide controller.

I am not entiryly what you mean by,
Quote:
At boot time look at the console and see if the disks are "IDLE". If so then Kev1000000 is correct and you'll have to set each disk to "RW"
but i I do not see the text "Idle" anywhere during bootup?

still cannot access drives from windows or using ftp even though all services start allright according to the screen where you log in
