Hi I have been running NASLite 2.04 for a couple of weeks now, but have noticed that If a OSX mac connects via NFS to any of the drives, the computer will not show up in the Networkstatus. Connect via SMB it will show up. All PC show up. I can see any OSX mac connected in the Server Message Log, well it shows
# May 1 07:10:51 user.notice syslog: authenticated mount request from 192.168.0.116:1020 for /export/Disk-1 (/export/Disk-1)
# May 1 08:07:29 user.notice syslog: authenticated unmount request from 192.168.0.116:1018 for /export/Disk-1 (/export/Disk-1).

I'm just wondering why it wouldn't show up in the Network Status page?
If I connect via SMB and NFS it will show that I am using both protocols on Network Status, just won't show any mac using NFS only.

Thx

I have the same problem here. I can't even see the server from any osx net work comands or network utility. I can use the drives and server just fine but trying to monitor it is a joke. I am also wrestling with permission problems.

Please clarify what your trying to do here, do you mean it doesn't show up in zero conf/bonjour?

Also, NASLite does not use file permissions, describe your issue.

This is only my first week with NASLite and my issues are most probably related to operator error and not the fault of this wonderful software.

well, I have the same issue as the original post. My macbook pro does not show up in the client list on the network page. Maybe this is normal?

I can not find a single osx tool that will let me see the server from my end. For instance, I have used ifconfig to see the server network settings and I don't see anything past the aiport base station.

I have tried to use niutil to find my naslite-2 to get my uid but have not been successful. I have read a couple of web pages, the man page and still can't use any command to even list the server.

-bash-3.2$ niutil -list . /machines serves
75 ./local
76 ../network

The permission problems have been covered in the forums before so I am trying to work my way through those. Here is what happened so far.
When I use rsync to backup some test directories the permissions are set to 755 with the owner as "unknown". This means I can not delete or move /modify the new files without giving my password.

There is an update to this: yesterday this problem was system wide (finder, terminal, pathfinder) but today it only effects pathfinder. The permissions however remain the same. I did change the mount settings in netinfo manager maybe this helped.

My current settings in netinfo are:

vfstype: nfs
nfs: (-3, -a=3, -T, -b, nodev, nosuid, -i)

I also have defaults for nfsd set in netinfo under config as
(-P -u -t -n 4)

Update to my situation, my gateway (airport express base station) now shows up in the network stats page. The only switchs in netinfo I added last night were the nosuid, nodev and the -P switch to nfsd in config
