Since a few mouths, I use an old PC as a NAS with the NASLite software NASLite-SMB version. As the floppy aren’t on my point of vue not as reliable as I desire for a NAS configuration I decided to purchase a version of NASLite allowing a HDD boot. On another side I don’t like mixing storage space and software that’s why after reading a lot of thing on the NASLite web pages I thought choosing the NASLite-2 USB would be a solution, because it allowed an installation on an CF memory card USB attached, and this card could then be used as ‘harddisk’ with a CF-IDE adapter.
But my machine can’t boot neither on a CD-ROM nor on USB key so I decided to boot with the NASLite-2 USB CDROM in another computer and I choose the option ‘fisk disk’ , then dismount the card and placed it in a CF-IDE adapter in order to boot on it like a HDD but the boot stopped with the following message:
USBX: dx= (lot of hexa code)
Do somebody experienced a similar problem and found a solution ?
Thanks,
DH

I have seen this problem on an older Intel 845 motherboard. I am not sure, but I think the "superfloppy" option solved this. However, that was for USB booting, so this would probably not work with a CF/IDE configuration. But it might allow you to boot NASLite on a USB stick.

Thanks Georg, but unfortunately my motherboard/BIOS don't allow a USB boot, that's why I wanted to transfer NASLite on a "hard-disk".

Hello,
Good news !!
Even I was absolutely not convinced I decided to test a 'Super-floppy' formating while CF card mounted in the USB card reader. After formating I did the same as with the 'fix disk' formating ie mounting the CF card in the USB-IDE adapter and re-boot.......surprise, it works !!!!

DH
