Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I'm using v2.02 USB.

After my server has been on for some time, I go to connect to it and find I can see the folder structure, but not any of my files. If I look at the 'Storage Status' page, none of my HD's appear listed. I've tried looking at other directories and from other machines to make sure my machine isn't just caching the structure, but this doesn't appear to be the case. I can telnet to the server fine.

If I reboot my server, it all returns to normal (i.e. can see files, can see disk status).

Any thoughts?

Can you view the files via HTTP? I'd keep an eye on the syslog for abnormalities.

Hi Tony,

No I can't see the files via HTTP either. I can see the directory structure though.

I'll have a look at the syslog tonight.

Ooops, I forgot I'm still using 2.02.

I do have 2.04, but I have yet to install it on my USB. Perhaps I should do that first and see if I still get the same issue :)

Here's a link to my syslog from v2.02. It's pretty big, but I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Here's the log from my newly installed v2.04

Still seems like there are some common errors.

It appears that you have 3 disks installed. Master and Slave on your primary IDE and another single on the secondary IDE. The problem is with the primary IDE, the cable, one or both of the drives or the drives are misconfigured.

Before you start throwing things out, turn SMART off in the BIOS and also disable SMART in NASLite. Change the IDE cable and make sure the drives are jumpered properly.

Run the server again and see if the errors clear up. There should be NO errors in the syslog. The problem is definitely hardware related, so make sure you don't do any writes to the disks until you resolve this.

Hope this helps

I turned off SMART just for that drive, and I've had no errors. I'll keep an eye on it though ... could be something more serious.
