I am a noob, but have read most post and read the hardware reference guide. I bought Rosewill PCI SATA x2 Silicon Image, RAID 0/1, Low Profile Host Controller Model RC-201 because it had a Silicon 3512 chip. I was not looking for RAID, just needed SATA connection. It is supposed to be supported on NASLITE USB 2.0. I am stuck at Loading Kernel screen it just sits there. If I disconnect the drive it boots all the way. Have disabled tons of stuff on the Award Bios screens. Just downloaded Naslite 2.04. Still nothing. Booting from CF to IDE, I had initially bought Naslite 2 CDD. I tried booting from CD and still stops at same point. Then loads completely if i disconnect the drives. Help please , as I feel I will be out 50 buck in just SW , not to mention the other hardware i bought.

Mobo is HS-6037LLV by ISB
Celeron 533
256 mb Ram
cf to ide adapter
2 Rosewill PCI sata cards SIL-3512 chipset
3 500gb HD Maxtors

How powerful is your PSU, and have you tried a different one? Possibly also try adding drives one at a time.

Well the 5u case has redundant 300 watt psu's. I tried only connecting 1 HD ,and still nothing. Would PSU shortage cause issues like this? Any help is appreciated.

IT WORKS... Okay started looking at power being an issue which caused me to start troubleshooting 1 hard drive at a time again. My 5u case has a backplane with two CPU boards. I shut down one cpu board and focussed on just the Naslite one with 1 hard drive. Still kept failing . Then I realised i had been troubleshootin on the same SATA card the whole time, whic I have 2. So then I tried the other card with just one drive, and whoila, it booted. Still i needed to determine if it was the drive or sata card. So i tried 2 drives ont the just successful card and both booted. Next moved the added 3rd drive to second sata card , and boom everything failed. So next moved suspect sata card to a new pci slot and now all 3 boot. Terrific, must be a bad pci slot or IRQ conflict. Booted up cpu card 2 and still all 3 hd's boot. Thanks.

Even more satisfying in that you did the trouble shooting solo!
