As I mentioned in a previous post, I just installed a new disk in my NASLite-2 USB box (now has 4x400GB). I used the shares feature to reorganize my files on the 4 disks -- what a great improvement over the old method of copying files over the network via the windows client.
But after I did the reorg, I then started copying new files from my windows machine onto the NAS. But since I was already "exploring" the NAS via the "shares" directory, what I ended up doing was copying from the windows machine to the NAS via the shares directory. In other words, I was copying into \\server\Shares\disk-3 instead of directly into \\server\disk-3. Was this less efficient than copying directly into \\server\disk-3? Just curious.
