I'm trying to load up v2.03-USB on an old IBM laptop that has 96Mb RAM. I needed to use a kicker CD to get the thing to boot up from the USB memory stick.

Seems I ran out of memory ... the last few lines on the screen are:

LINLD v0.97
Kernel command line:
root=/dev/ram0 rw
Uncompressing NASLite Kernel . . .
Ok, booting the kernel.
Uncompressing NASLite Kernel . . .

Out of memory

-- System halted

The docs say I only need 64Mb ... what happened?? I guess the kicker drivers are using memory ? Does that acccount for it? Anything I can do?

Tony/Ralph - change the docs - add a warning/disclaimer ?

Help. Any ideas?

Thanks

This may not be NASLite related - laptops and linux do not always work well - I've experienced "inexplicable" out of memory messages on some laptops trying to run linux and the only fix was a different version of linux.

Try using google to search for keywords "linux" and <whatever ThinkPad you are using> and see what other folks have experienced.
