I curently have 4 drives in my NAS, all with data. Just got the ADAPTEC 2610SA and want to make 2 of the drives to RAID 1. I have never used RAID so read the adaptec manual but still have a question. It souds like the drives will be wiped when I make the array. Anyway to avoid this? What I want to do is take out the oldest drive, then add a new SATA (no data on it) and an existing SATA (with data) that I want to mirror to the RAID card in RAID1.

there is likely no way to do what you want without blanking a drive.

Even if the manual says there is do you really want to risk it?
