Hello
I am interested in purchasing NASLite for my small business. it looks great for on-site storage, but I am wondering about off-site storage. Can a DVD be burned from the info on the HD's on the server? Is the information in a readable format so that computers can be restored if there is a major problem at work?

Many Thanks!

Not to sure that the question makes sense. The data on the drives is stored in a standard EXT3 file system. At least as good if not better than the NTFS that MS uses. If you map the drive you can burn the data to your DVD drive on a client machine. An alternate is to simply setup an external USB of Fire wire drive now and then and run Rsync on the drive you wish to backup.

Hope this answers your question,

Mike

Hi trapper99,

If you want a back up of your work pc then the images could be saved to the server and restored at a later date. the hard drives could be placed inside caddies so you could take the images offsite, There is no option to burn DVD's on the NAS server. but anything stored on the server could be burnt to DVD with a suitable program on your works machine.

Note to create the backup images you will need a suitable program these can create a DVD or DVD's of your works pc or create them on the NAS server.
