Sorry...I couldn't find any previous mention in the forum regarding NICs within the software's "sweet spot".

Name the contenders and we'll buy them :)

I'm running a netgear GA621 to my switch, it is a screemer! Note this is a Gigabit Fibre card, it has an SC fibre connector that I run to my switch.

I know that the 3Com 3C990 works as well as the built on 3C940 chip on my motherboard (I have booted NL on it to test). I believe that it is made by broadcom. One reason to go with 3Com is lifetime warranty, that and they just work great.

Intel Gigabit NICs are a good bet as well.

Ralph uses Dlink NICs to test so you con't go wrong with them either. One reason to go with 3Com is lifetime warranty, that and they just work great.
